Brabant Center for Sustainable Development

Telos, the Brabant Centre for Sustainable Development, was established in 1999 as an interdisciplinary and independent research centre. Its objectives are to study, monitor, and support sustainable development in the province of Brabant, to support innovations, to raise awareness on sustainable development in society and among policy makers, and to support social learning.

Telos is based in Brabant, a province located in the south of the Netherlands, with 2.4 million inhabitants the second largest region in the country.
The province is the most industrialized province in the Netherlands. Furthermore, it can be caracterized as strongly urbanised and densely populated. South-East Brabant is an industrial mainport for knowledge intensive activities. Sixty per cent of the provincial area is used for agricultural purposes, in particular intensive cattle breeding and farming.
